We are currently in the final stages of restoring a 1962 XKE roadster, left hand drive.
We have a problem with the wiper blade rotation.
All of the photos of similar cars show the wiper blades pointing to the right at rest. When we set up the arms and blades to rest to the right a problem is encountered. When the motor starts it goes further downward (clockwise). We need to have it go counter-clockwise (from 3:00 oÔÇÖclock to 10:00 oÔÇÖclock).
The motor and linkage are original and in good condition. During the restoration we did a complete teardown. It is possible that when we reinstalled everything the wiper motor and linkage were installed incorrectly, but we canÔÇÖt figure out where it could be wrong.
A couple of things to consider.
1- We switched the ground to negative ground. None of the write-ups about changing the ground polarity say anything about the wiper motor running in the opposite direction.
2- The linkage could be set up incorrectly causing the arms to go clockwise rather than counter-clockwise, or
3- The parking switch is installed incorrectly or out of adjustment.
Any suggestion you may have will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for you help.

Wiper blade rotation
The wipers on my 62 Roadster point to the left from the drivers seat. I am still positve ground, but would like to convert to negative ground. Sounds like the change in polarity may be your problem.
PS: Do you have a reference I can go to for the procedure to convert polarity?

Wiper blade rotation
Yes, voltage polarity reversal is probably your problem.
On my '63 E-Type, when you turn the wipers off it reverses the polatrity to the wiper motor which causes the motor to reverse.
As I recall, there is a pattern of groves on the face of the driven gear. When the gear is rotating in the run direction, the follower does not drop into a park/stop grove.
When the rotation reverses the follower enters a groove, parks the blades and activates a stop switch. Tom Hughes

I read about reversing wiper parking somewhere on Jag Lover's, go there they have a much bigger data base on the E Type forum, I am sure they have the solution, Art
re: negative ground conversion.
We used the write-up from Classic Jaguar in Austin, Texas.
We have found them to be very helpful.
Dan Mooney almost always replies immediately to your email requests.
The write-up is at www.classicjaguar.com/negative.html
