Over the winter I replaced the brake master cylinders in my 1970 FHC. I took the opportunity to repaint the area around the engine. I removed the battery and moved the 3 relays that reside on the inner fender well (the car has A/C) but did not disconnect the wires from the relays. I disconnected the two ground wires under the negative battery cable. I also removed the dash top, speedo and tach so I could replace the wire cable to the heater box. I removed all the wires connected to the top of the voltage regulator where the battery cables attach. Prior to all this activity, everything worked including the radio.
After re-connecting everything, including new battery cables, the car runs perfectly and everything works except the radio, the map light and the interior light. The radio (a Kenwood Excelon) was installed by an audio shop several years ago. There are two leads from the radio (that I can see). One lead is attached to fuse 4 and the other lead is attached to fuse 7. There are two in-line fuses between the radio and the car fuse box; both fuses are OK as are the #4 and #7 fuses. The map light is connected to fuse 8 as is the interior light. During all the work, I never touched the fuse box.
It appears the circuits to the radio, map light and interior light are dead but I can't figure out why. Any suggestions?

Dennis: I have a similar problem with the #7 fuse . After cleaning the contacts to the fuse and fuse panel, the gauges and the brake lights work again, but the signals do not.
I have been going over the wiring slowly and am finding many problems with the lack of attention the previous owner gave the wiring. Loose connections all over the place and even some direct shorts caused by both negative and positive wires touching...
I figure there is no MAGIC fix to these problems. I must just keep on going through all of the wires....
