Hi - First time post... I got a nice 84 XJ6 from my brother for a penny...
It was driven perhaps 150 miles in the last 3 years... sitting in a barn most of the time. Drove it 50 miles or so home, was running rough. Replaced the plugs, ran a bit better. My friends told me to get it out on the hiway to blow some carbon out, and I did that then the car croaked on the hiway. Sputtered and died. AAA towed it home. Have since replaced the wires, cap, rotor, air filter, and fuel filter. Put gas treatment into both tanks. Also replaced the gaskets on the camshaft covers (it was blowing some oil out near the coil). Now it wont start at all. Cranks fine but that's it. Today I verified that the wires are in correctly, I have a spark, the fuel pump works, and fuel comes out at the engine when I crank it. So now I'm into the fuel injection and I'm way over my head. I don't have the means or the skills to do all the pressure checks and stuff. Checked all the fuses and they look OK. So unless anyone has any easy tips for someone with my skill level, can anyone recommend a good garage or mechanic in my area ? (Ayer, Massachusetts). Thank you all so much...
