have a 89 xjs v12 5.3l car would not crank replaced starter relay under the hood on passage side car began starting had no problem for about a week and than it started to do it again the last i tryed it it crank for a second and went dead have not been able to start it since the battery has been replaced

The main starter power comes from the pas side firewall area just to the area behind the cam cover.. it is a 9/16th nut ( or a 15 mm ) under a rubber shield, it may be loose... ( in the engine bay )

There is a difference in the car not cranking and not starting--I assume it will not crank--if not check the plugin to the starter for corrosion--it is on the Rh side of the endine near the stabilizer brace.
Bob just follow the White and Red wire from the new relay you installed--you will find a connection near the body stabilizer--check that it is clean and tight!
