95 xjs security system and key fob
Jonas,
1994 and later XJS models no longer had backup batteries to maintain the remote programming if the battery is disconnected; they are retained even without power. Therefore the system has to be put in a programming state by the Jaguar diagnostic equipment. If a dealer could not get it done, it is possible they were trying the current IDS/SDD equipment. I have found they are very spotty when used on the older cars, sometimes they accomplish the task, sometimes they don't. [face it, the company isn't all that concerned with the older cars at this point] I'd suggest finding a dealer that still has a working WDS or PDU and have them try that. There is no "manual method" to program remotes on your car.
Good luck!

Try checking the antenna connection at the top of the rear window--sometimes they are knocked off during cleaning.
Jonas - I have the same problem with a 1995 convertible, I need to program a new remote. Did you solve your problem, and if so how?
Thanks
