I understand that tool kits were an option in the Series II E-Types and therefore would not be required for concours judging. Can anyone confirm.

Thanks!

Don they went in the Bag for the Jack. Cliff I think that might be a UL or a dealer by dealer story. If you look in the 1968 E Judging guide you will see a copy of a letter from Hornburg that addresses the situation. jaguar had deleted the full tool kit in 1968 and the customers were looking for it--evidently with complaint!

Don,
In case you're still up and George isn't........

The only thing that came in my jack bag is the jack and its handle. The hammer and adapter are simply wrapped in anything to keep them from rattling around in the wheel well. Back in the day, they talk about dealers removing tool kits from cars before selling them because having them implied that the cars were unreliable. Stacks of tool kits were said to be stored in the "back room" of some dealerships. Perhaps, but this may be an urban legend. My '70 OTS came with a kit but it was also used as a parts car for previously sold cars needing a few parts.

Whether to show your tools is a function of what class you're entering. Yes, for Championship Class - No, for Driven Class. I'd have to double-check the Concours manual for the Special Class requirements, but now it's time for me to hit the hay.

Best wishes,

George, one last thing (I think) how was the hammer, adapter tool & jack handle placed in the spare tire area? Were they all packed in the jack bag or ??

Thanks

Hi George,

So that I understand correctly, the tools that would be located in a tool pouch (tube wrenches etc.) were the optional tools while the jack, hammer, adapter for the wire wheels etc. would have been provided with all cars, correct?

Thanks,

Don

Sorry just realized what I wrote could be mis leading--the tool roll was optional from 68 but it was changed with less tools (mostly less tube wrenches).

Don the classic tool roll was no longer supplied at the outset of the 1968 MY. Your 69 should have tools though (Jack/ ratchet/ hammer and adaptor tool (wire wheels) wheel brace (steel wheels).
