I had excessive brake pedal travel, so I bled the brakes.
The problem still existed, I checked vacuum line hose clamps and retightened. The problem still exists. The brake pedal has some resistence with the engine off but when I start the engine the pedal immediately goes to the floor. Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks

Re.: 1964 E type brake problems
Hello Chuck,
Try SNG Barratt. (800) 452-4787 in the US. I am quite sure they supplied one to me back in 2008. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info. Do know of a source for a rebuild kit for the 1964 bellows booster?
Thanks Chuck

Any idea where I can get a rebuild kit for the 1964 bellows booster. I see Moss Motors only stocks one for the 1965+ years.
Thanks
Chuck

1964 E type brake problems
Chuck there is a valve in your bellows booster system (if your car is stock). It sounds like the valve has failed or has a bit of dirt in it--the booster is open to the atmosphere in the rear portion that sticks in the bulkhead. It also has a filter. Let us know what you find! Do you have a service manual? See the section on the booster or you can order an official manual here in the shoppe. Good luck.
Chuck, try White Post , in White Post VA, they are great on all brake realated items.
