Here's one for the people who know all about these things.
One morning this weekend, when I opened the garage to take the car out for a drive, all the door windows and moon roof were wide open.

Don't have any idea why this happened, but it could have been a bad issue had the car been parked outside on a street downtown, or, it had been outside during a rain.

Now I'm leary about taking the car anywhere.

Any idea's??????

Hey, thanks loads fellows. That help's with my Jag appeal. I was starting to have doubts.

Also, I thought I had read that manual from front to back, and can't remember reading anything about the hot day "window/moon roof opening feature", but there again I'm sure I must have skipped over it. After a while, reading the ENGLISHMAN-ese, I tend to do that, so I'll pull it out and see what else I missed.

Thanks again and stay cool on those hot days mentioned.

I agree with Louis and the others--I learned a new term last week--"a butt call". When you have your cell in your pocket and it calls someone via proper pressure. I think we need a term for this.

You probably activated the global opening feature. If you hold the open switch on the remote longer than normal, it will open all the windows and the Sun Roof. You may have activated this feature in you pocket without realizing it. This can be disabled through your touch screen, if you want, but it is useful on hot days to cool the car rapidly.

Garfield,

The XJ and the S-type have a feature that allows you to open all windows and the sunroof by holding the unlock button down on your key remote. It is a convenience feature to allow you to open up the car and let the inside cool off on a hot summer day without having to get inside the car.

Occassionally if you carry the keys in your pocket or you wife keeps her's in a purse, something pushes against the unlock button and opens it all up with out your noticing.

It is all in your owners manual.

Letting the wife drive could be the answer. ;-))

The window switches and moon roof switch all work normally. I of course closed everything before I took the car out and it has not happened since (2 days), but now that it has happened once, the possibility that it will happen again is real.

I fear that this will be one of those "when I checked, everything worked normally" (which I already knew) Here's my bill for $200.

Hey, just kidding. If it was me I would start by taking the car to an Auto Electric shop and have them test out the window switches, etc. to see why they are all in open position.
