Patrick,

If you're still following this thread; thanks very much for the link. They provided me a nearly identical boot.

Best,

Jay

Joseph, I saw a response of yours to Mickey re: bumper overriders you purchased and then you mentioned you were going to buy E-Type taillights from the same source. Did you? Could you please call me and fill me in on your results? Thanks 910 391 5174

Glad to help Joseph, and I'm glad you found something that works.

Just a quick primer on how to use Google Image search. First, you should have a shortcut to Google on your desktop; just makes getting to it quicker and easier. To do this, get the Google search page on your screen (has Olympic graphics at the moment), right click the mouse, and choose ÔÇ£create shortcutÔÇØ, answer yes to the resulting query.

In the upper left corner, you will see a number of options from which to choose, with ÔÇ£WebÔÇØ being the default. If you want to do an image search, click on IMAGES, and you will get a new search screen. Now type any key word or words your heart desires. For example, the word Jaguar will a mixture of cars with those of the Jaguar cat.

The SafeSearch setting will be Moderate by default, go into this area to change your filter settings.

Also, notice a new link that reads SHOW OPTIONS. A menu board appears and you can expressly look for large images only if you so choose, but normally, youÔÇÖll keep this on ÔÇ£any sizeÔÇØ when looking for a car part or something.

Note that changing to Jaguar Driveshaft will yield a bunch of photos that probably wonÔÇÖt do you any good. When searching for images, you need to be somewhat creative. ÔÇ£Driveshaft rubber coversÔÇØ will yield a different response than ÔÇ£driveshaft rubber gaitersÔÇØ. But as you go through these, note that your looking for a product display of sorts. When you find something that looks promising, click on the image and you will be taken to that site where the image resides. Use your back button to return to the images if the web site is not what you are looking for.

Patrick,

Perfect. I need to learn up on Google image search as it took me over 2 hours via key word searching to find something similar. Did you start with image from my photo?

Thanks,

Jay

Joseph: Not unusual for the splines to be frozen on a car that has been sitting for a long time. You probably won't have any luck looking to Jaguar to provide a replacement boot. I spent 5 minutes on a Google image search and came up with this site:

http://www.curtisuniversal.com/boot-kits-and-lubrication.html

Surely they have something that will suffice. Better replace the u-joints while they're out!!

Saga continues. IRS is out to get at the leaking gearbox rear seal, which simply revealed more problems. So far unable to budge setscrews on gearbox rear cover- although fortunately I've not buggered the slots- yet.

Sliding spline was frozen solid. Anyone ever seen a propshaft like this one (see photo)? It's unlike any illustrations I've found online. In particular triple fold gaiter and no grease fitting. Suggestions on where I might find a replacement gaiter would be appreciated.

Thnx,

Jay
