Mine's leaking oil around output shaft. Eyeballing it w/ tunnel cover removed it looks if I remove the IRS and pull the prop shaft back, there's enough room to withdraw the output flange and unscrew the rear cover plate to get at the seal. Anybody know for sure it this works, or will I have to yank the engine?

Thanks,
Jay Boyce

Either way, I don't envy you....both fixes will be a PITA. Nothing, especially seals, is an "easy" fix on a Jaguar. I think I would first try some sort of leak stop additive before pulling the engine just to fix that. I personally think you will have to yank the engine....sucks.

I rebuilt brakes and replaced diff output seals recently, so now can see if I better my previous IRS personal best time.

I wonder if separating the rear u-joint would allow me to slide the prop shaft by the diff flange to get necessary 2 inch clearance forward ? Vision of needle rollers everywhere is holdin me back.

Thnx, Jay

Yes you can do it that way, and i'm assumung you have a short wheelbase car normally it would be a good time to refurbish the rear end, or at least, reseal the output shafts and callipers! And even the UJ's !
