I have a series 111 XKE and am seriously thinking of putting the
available stainless steel headers on it along with the stainless
free flow exhaust. Has anyone tried this system? Are they difficult
to fit or put on? What was the affect on the performance and sound
of the car? Would you do it again?

Stainless headers and free flow exhaust on series 3
I purchased a Series 3 about 1 1/2 years ago here in Atlanta. Dick Maury did the engine work including six Webers, comp cams, hi comp pistons and lightened flywheel. It tested out at over 340hp at the rear wheels and is really quick. Next on my "wish list" is to replace the exhaust system...headers...free flow. I searched the archives and found this thread from several years back. I'm open to and would appreciate any recommendations.

Stainless headers and free flow exhaust on series 3
www.classicjaguar.com has some very nice headers for the V12. I'll get some whenever i have to get the engine rebuild. headers alone won't do that much, but with porting n polishing, SUs, etc.. it's worth it.

Stainless headers and free flow exhaust on series 3
I haven't seen the headers/exhaust only on a Ser. III. Stew Jones recently did a full race modification for Jim Roberge on a '73 Ser. III V-12, which has headers and a whole lot more done to it. I imagine that headers and a freer flowing exhaust would boost the HP, but I'd think you'd need to open up the breathing on the intake side as well to get full benefit from the exhaust side.
You might want to give Stew Jones a call and ask what their experience is. Stew knows more about the V-12 E-types than just about anyone alive.

Pat,
This may be your lucky day! There's a Stebro free flow system on eBay now. BIN for only $2500, headers extra. I can't tell if it'd fit a S3 though.
