My shock absorber story:

We bought our '63 E-Type from the original owner in about 1970. It had approximately 50K miles on it and the original shocks which were in need of replacement.

One day, before I got around to replacing them, I was driving at about 70 mph on a smooth road with an uindulating surface when the car went into a series of verticle oscillations of increasing amplitude.

Had I not been wearing my seat belt I might very well have been leaving my seat.

I had traveled that road before, but at a different speed, without an problems. Apparently 70 mph created the resonant frequency.

At that time, the original version shocks were available from Whitney. I replaced all six.

I have a pair of the "Classic" Koni's up front (Black) that look much better than the old orange colored ones, which are in my rear suspension. (I now see they've switched to red.) You'll find there are many on this forum that are still Girling purists. I replaced my original Girlings with Konis because at the time, new and correct Girlings were not available.

And NO, don't throw any old original parts away..never, never, never!!

Hi Nicholas

I have not bought any shocks, but Konis came with my 67 FHC and seem fine. Posters on Jag-Lovers.org seem to like the Konis, but warn not to throw any old parts away until the new ones are installed.

Good luck

Curt
