Can someone help with a check for the front suspension on a 94XJS? I heard a "ticking/clicking" sound during a slow left turn which pointed me towards my front right passenger side tire. I tried moving it side to side (3-9 oclock) and top to bottom (12 - 6 oclock) but got some movement when I moved the wheel top to bottom. Problem is, I can't see any visible damage at the ball joints plus I just changed both upper ball joints about two months ago. Not sure if this is a bearing issue or how to tell for sure.

As these are tapered bearings you may be able to just adjust the looseness out of the assembly by removing the dust cap and removing the cotter pin. perhaps a couple of grooves in the castelled nut will suffice, the wheel should of course spin relatively freelf, and make no bearing noises..........
don't forget to grease the bearings re the grease nipple in the hub, visible after removing the wheel.......

Treat the bearings to a disassemble-clean-repack every so often ....and an occasional re-adjustment....and they'll darn near outlive the car ! :-)

The play in the wheel and ticking makes me suspect the bearings. You are at about the common mileage for them to show some play, in my experience. Not too bad of a job and some of the most inexpensive parts you will ever put on your Cat.

Concur on the bearings generally out-lasting the vehicle.
I have some originals in daily use 58+ years old.
However:
My personal belief (based upon 40+ years of auto repair and restoration) is that you should as a rule ignore the grease zerk on the front hubs.
There is always an exception to the rule, but plan on yanking the caliper and bracket, pull the rotor/hub, remove the bearings and seal, CLEAN and re-pack.
My 1964 Mark Two......30+ years of gas-station maintenance......I had to scrape and almost chisel the stuff out.
I think it was starting to turn back into a dinosaur.
I know they used the zerks at the station, as it had bled out the bleed hole and filled one of the nave plates, and dribbled all over the road wheel and tyre.
