Can anyone recommend someone who can take my tank out, give it a good cleaning & coating on the inside and put it back in? Hopefully for less than it costs to buy a new one. No rust-through...just some muck in the fuel filter that makes me say hummmmm.

David - can you post a picture of your pump configuration? I'd be curious to see.

Good point Joey. Luckily no stalling issues for quite some time, but I'll consider myself on-notice that it really should be done. If issues become more prominent maybe that will be the kick in my but to do it. I'd never complain that the car is junk :) Also by the time my 2 and 4 year olds can ride in the car it probably will be done. By the time I have grandkids who knows...will I even be able to buy gasoline? ;)

Joey and David...thanks for the advice. When we initially brought the car back to life the tank was deemed to be clean - but then after 4 years of a slow repair and not running a lot (in Florida with regular gas) I think some problems began to arise. As I was learning to drive the car I had some stalling issues unrelated to my footwork. The relatively new fuel pump was clogged with rust. We replaced the pump and I've since run the car about once a week using only non-ethanol gas. Do you think there is any chance it was just some initial rust and I won't have to worry about it anymore? At least for now that's a back burner project...I'd like to get it taken care of eventually but for now its just something itching at the back of my mind. If someone replied to my initial post and said - here's the guy to go to, he'll fix you right up cheep then I'd have jumped though :) Here is a link to Non-ethanol gas in New York...and in other parts of the country. I'm lucky to have one not far from me http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NY
