Ok I am going with another stupid question only because I have heard it is better to ask then not to ask all questions when it comes to jags. Ok I am working on the exhaust/intake and I am going to just have the cats cut out (thanks for the advice from the loss of power post) and I have found what I believe to be EGR valves. I have included a picture incase I am wrong. My question is how important are these ie. will the car run just fine with out, do they give or take power. My plan is that if it is fine with out them (one on each side)then I am going to cap the throttle body and exhaust just mostly because I dont see the reason of having somthing not needed. Again thanks for everyones help I dont like posting the THANK YOU because of the post notices. However I am extremly grateful for everything everyone does here.

That is indeed the EGR valve for the B bank, John. Yes, you can remove them and there will be no ill effect. In fact, most of them on the pre-HE engines are clogged with carbon and don't do anything anyway. As I understand it, the EGR valve simply returns some of the exhaust stream to the intake to be burned again. Your engine will get a fresher fuel/air charge without them and your exhaust will have a bit more pollutants.
You might want to hang on to them just in case someone wants them in the future for a concours restoration. I'm pretty sure you can't buy them new now. I defeated them on a 76 XJ12 by leaving them in place and installing a blanking gasket to each one where the valve bolts to the throttle body.
