According to recent reports of varying credibility, Tata is buying Jaguar so that they can have Land Rover as part of the package deal. Apparently they will immediately sell Jaguar once getting control of Land Rover. I found from www.pistonheads.com
So Jaguar has a pretty uncertain future it seems...

Tata wants Land Rover, not Jaguar
The word that I heard is that Tata wants Land Rover, but will keep Jaguar for a while before putting it on the market. The good news is that the only other (than Tata) interested party in Jaguar was Fiat. The purchase of Jag would give them a ready-made dealership network for their full line of cars, which have been out of this country since the Jap-buggies took over. Jag may or may not survive that purchase but, remember, Fiat also owns Ferrari. . .

if you look at Ford US Sales Reports, Land Rover sales are holding up far better than Jaguar which has been loosing 30% a year in North America...

Perhaps we made a mistake in not buying stacks of Ford stock and telling Ford what to do right with the marque. If we could buy Jag stock I would. Didn't Harley/Davidson and Triumph (motorbikes) do a managment buy-out with dedicated owners? They look ok today.

and where can I borrow legitimately against my two precious Jags? Certainly NOT at one of those Title Loan places, they are a scam!

Come on J.A.M. - - - surely you can borrow something against those two sweet looking cats in you avatar . . . . . . !
In the mean time I'll kick in a few grand. Wouldn't be my first bad investment - - but it might get me an F Type which wouldn't be a bad dividend!

errr, cough, cough, I can afford $10. for the time being, so that's $1,010.00 in the basket.

If all the Jaguar owners, dealers and workers put their life savings in a basket, they could buy the whole company and get the F Type built already.

If all Jaguar owners around the world, interested in saving Jaguar, each put $10.00 in a basket, we can try to save Jaguar. If it doesn't happen after all the money is counted, then I'm out of ideas.

That's surprise as I recall that Land Rover had very poor JD Power reviews as opposed to Jaguars. From a business point of view, however, LR is profitable.

I actually would hope Fiat buys Jaguar.
I think it would be great if Alfa Romeo's used the RWD platforms of Jaguar's. There have been talks of this in the auto news; better yet if Alfa Romeo returns to North America. My two favourite automakers as one company. I think both brands could learn from each other.... seeing as they both make cars for passionate individuals.
