After reading the last few bits of information about engine installation I still have a question.
65 e-type roadster early 4.2 series 1
When I puchased the car the engine was not in the car. I was told to attach clutch & transmisson to the engine & install from the bottom. They didn't mention removing the picture frame section. It didn't appear they had removed it to take the engine out? I guess I just have to hear it again from the guys that know.
Thanks

ENGINE INSTALLATION
I recently completed a restoration of my 68 E. When I removed the engine, I removed it from above, but also removed the picture frame and bonnet hinge. I was replacing the entire subframe assembly. I had supported the engine with the hoist and from below.

ENGINE INSTALLATION
I am a member of JCSNE and live in greater Hartford area and have just installed the engine in my Series 1 FHC which went like clockwork. I have some really useful suggestions if you fax me your phone number directly at 860-429-3692

Actually after a zillion engines it is easier to raise the car, and pick the engine up from the bottom and don't even think of the front crossmember and all the garbage requiried with crossmember (wiring, break lines, horns bonnet mounts and other junk.)
