It is time to finally get my '66 OTS back on the road. The body is in a shop, and I just pulled the engine off the shelf. It has been out for 35 years! I plan to pull it apart and check it out before trying to turn it over. I have a good engine stand, but am trying to figure out the best way to mount the engine on it. When I've done other engines, there were bolt holes on the side where I could connect to the stand, but don't see any obvious ones on this engine. Suggestions?
thanks
Bill

The pan is so strong that you would put the engine on a table and butt up the stand to the engine , use heavy duty bolts and or pass through with nuts washers and bolts on non threaded holes......The block is stronger than a mac truck.

I can do what you suggest, but am worried about the stripping the threads on the top; the bottom should be ok, because are thru bolts. Have you done this?
I guess I could provide some support on the front too, but that is complicated.

If you have the adjustable arms on your stand, use those and attach the tranny bolts from those arms to the back of the block, just like a transmission would mount up.
Good luck,
