I've just purchased a 1995 XJS V-12 convertible, couln't be happier. The car is currently in Virginia, and I need to get her up to Massachusetts.
I'm considering renting a trailer and towing it up. I have a 2006 F-150 4x4 that should be able to handle the job. U-Haul and Penske claim the car is too big and can't rent me their trailers. Is the GVWR rating on the car (5026) in pounds or kilograms? Is there a rental company that has a trailer big enough?
I could have the car transported. Can anyone recommend a good auto transporter?
I could drive her up, a nice ride when I exchange papers in April if the weather holds, but I'm unsure as to what the Massachusetts insurance requirements are (Mass residents, any suggestions?).
Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Andy, there should be no problem towing, we tow ours all over the West Coast , all you need is a 16 foot open trailer with tandem axles, most are rated for 6,000 lbs. Regards, Art

The weight is in pounds; if it were kilos the weight would be over 11,000 pounds. Driving it home is a great way to treat yourself!

Call your insurance agent. He should be able to set you up with a policy. I'm assuming you are going to title the car in MA. There should be no problem.
Enjoy the drive.

I purchased my Jag in Houston, drove it New Orleans and proceeded north and west, Through Memphis, Sioux City, Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, over the "going to the sun" road in Montanna and up into Vancouver, Canada. The Car is a dream to drive and I haven't stopped smilling yet. I lover her!
