The correct voltage regulator for a 150 is an RB310 with polished aluminum cover. The one on my car, however, has the printing upside down. Is this correct?

Pat; how was this resolved, the RB 310 although used on a number of applications should have the stamping above the connection side. They would only be mounted Flat or vertical so there would be no need to have the printing "upside down". Jaguar affectionado and etc.

Hi George. Thanks for the reply. The placement of the mounting screws will not allow it to be reversed; i.e. you can't just unscrew the cover and turn it over. When I bought my 150 years ago it came with a regulator with a black plastic cover. I bought a replacement (I think from Welsh) and they told me that's the way they come. I just pulled Porter's book and, with a magnifying glass, I can see several 150's with the regulator stamping right-side up. It's my guess that the RB-310's were made for several models and the only one's left out there are the upside down versions. I think I'll give several suppliers a call and see what they say.

Pat the RB310 was used on a lot of cars but the covers were removable. Could your cover just be mounted upside down? I just looked at 5 I have and there were two variants but both were reversable. George Camp
As it turns out there are two RB310s listed in the Parts Manual; on rightside up and one upside down. They have different serial numbers and the Parts Manual shows the chassis numbers they were fitted to. The factory probably had a bunch of them on hand and decided to go ahead and mount them on the cars.
