The cruise control on my '92 XJS V-12 coupe is intermittent. Specifically, it sometimes will not actuate when the console speed control switch is pushed to start it. When it works it works beautifully, including the pushbutton on the end of the signal stalk. But more & more, it does not engage when the console switch is pushed. I have replaced the fuse under the glovebox and have replaced the console switch. The cruise control vacumn line appears to be fine on top of the engine. Any ideas? - Rick

intermittent cruise control
Good advice, but as stated in my original post, I have already replaced the console switch (with a brand new OEM Jaguar switch), with no difference in the problem.

intermittent cruise control
Might as well start with something easy....
Remove the console switch and, if you feel confident, disassemble it to clean the contacts
If not, get some aerosol contact cleaner and using the red tube/nozzle, try to inject as much spray as possible into the switch, via any small openeings you can find on the back side. Some of the spray will eventually reach the inner contacts. Make sure to protect the part of the switch that is exposed as some contact cleaners will discolor the plastic
On reassembly tighten the connectors a bit for a good grip

Sorry, my bad.
Try the link below, it has some good info....but it won't apply if yours has "Kiekert" cruise control (I don't think it will, as I think that chnage was made later than '92 but am not quite sure)
