l994 XJS Convertible 2+2. I suspect the security system, but I don't know where the disable switch is. The manual says on the center console, but it isn't there. Any ideas?

New battery goes dead in three days.
gail&a.w.amanns vonore tn. 99xk8 conv. 93 xjr-s coupe on my 93 there is a switch on the steering column next to the dash on the pasenger side that will disable it. however saying that there is supposed to be a battery in the alarm system that powers it when the car is not in use and is supposed to recharge when the car is in use. be sure that the trunk light shuts off and the battery is in good shape.

Got me on the security system disable location, neither of my XJS's are new enough. If I were you I'd ensure that it's not the boot light first.
Another possibility is that an alternator diode has begun to leak. To check this, wire an ammeter in series with your battery (don't even think about turning the car on!). You will probably see a drain of an amp or more, since it takes 3 days to drain the battery. While the ammeter is connected, remove the connectors from the back of the alternator. If the drain stops, replace the alternator.
Of course, I'm assuming you have a strong battery.
