Approximately 3 weeks ago a major revision to the Concours Rule Book, Chapter VI, "Judge's Guide for Scoring Non-Authenticity", was posted for comment on the JCNA web site.
That posting generated a few suggestions and questions which resulted in the Judge's Concours Rules Committee (JCRC) re-examining and ultimately changing the wording of the requirement that concours Entries be presented in their "as delivered" configurations.
Several attempts were made to better define "as delivered", only to find that there can be many interpretations of "delivery" and, that the original configuration and the place/country of delivery, especially for some older models, may never be determined.
As a result of this and other considerations, a more lenient standard is being proposed (for evaluation) for Chapter VI. The newly revised Chapter VI is now posted on the lower left side the web site Concours section and will be presented for ratification at the upcoming AGM. The most significant change reads:
"JCNA Concours Entries will be allowed to be configured with any items, listed in the relevant Jaguar Cars Ltd. Parts Book, and applicable to the model, year, chassis and engine number of the vehicle, subject to the following exception:
There may be no fewer emission control devices and elements installed on each Entry, than Jaguar Cars Ltd. originally authorized for the model, year and country for which the car was initially prepared."
This wording eliminates one conclusion, of the earlier proposal, that certain style and size headlamps might no longer be considered authentic. There have been relatively minor changes made in other parts of the chapter; and a few others may be made prior to the AGM
Your constructive comments and feedback are welcomed as always. Additional changes will be accommodated as feasible.

Concours Rule Book, Chapter VI Revision, is Modified
I can add this:
ALL Series III XJ Vanden Plas and Sovereign models (both 6 and V12) were fitted with "fleece" overmats in the three passenger positions as part of the standard equipment. These are NOT "accessories"; they are an integral part of the trim level for these cars and must be present for judging, otherwise the car is missing original equipment.
All Canadian market Series III V12 Vanden Plas (1982 to 1992) cars came with mudflaps front and rear as standard equipment; if they are missing, a deduction should be taken.
Similarly, all modern Jaguar saloons (XJ, S-Type and X-Type) were fitted at the factory with carpet overmats (and there are fixing studs in the floor capet for them); these are also part of the standard equipment for these models and should be judged as such. If they are missing, a deduction should be taken. They do NOT fall under the rule book rubric of "overmats" which the rulebook states should be removed for judging. *But Jaguar did/does sell overmats for all these cars which ARE accessories, and should be removed for judging; an example is the real lambswool overmats for the X-Type (as these are unbelievably expensive they will be bought only by those with no common sense - and you may never see them unless you judge my X-Type!).

Concours Rule Book, Chapter VI Revision, is Modified
Preparing for the upcoming Carolina Jaguar Club Concours later this month I am trying to develop a list of items that were delivered with each model and; therefore, need to be displayed with them. If an item is listed in the Spare Parts Manual does that mean it was delivered with the car? Currently I am under the assumption that if any of the following items are not presented then a "missing or non-authentic" deduction is to be made:
Owner's Manual - all models
Front License Plate Holder - all models
Tool Kit - all models prior to 1968
Toneau Cover - all OTS and DHC
Side Curtain Storage Pouch - XK120, XK140
Toneau Storage Pouch - XK8
Any additions or comments?

Hi Pat, Actually everything that you mention has always been a deduction but many items and the amount of deduct were not listed. The deduction was supposed to be the same as something of equal value/importance/ size etc. Nothing has really changed except now there is a deduct amount listed for every non authentic item that the JCRC committee could think of.
