I would like to replace many of the bolts used to assemble
the bonnet and front subframes on my 1964 S1 E-type. I ordered bolt
kits from XKs Unl but the bolts are not the exact same type and coatings as the ones we removed. Do I have to restore the originals? Or could someone provide me with a source to puchase them?
Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Early E-type bolts
Curtis you will be far ahead (and more accurate) if you restore the bolts you have. Any that are not usable you can replace but you will need to get used as the modern markngs are different. Good luck. George Camp
George is right, however, there are new bolts out there with the depressed center. I bought a bunch of them; but don't recall where. It was some fastener place out in California that carried not only the silver cad, but black-oxide type as well. Don't know if he is still in business, but SOMEONE is making them! The stubby screws used to connect many bonnet parts together are readily available; usually at a hardware store. Don't bother trying to replate those.
Oh, and by the way, try to AVOID taking your bonnet apart if at all possible (and if it's not too late). Damn near impossible to get them to fit right after doing so.
