How common is it to have a dealer installed Jagsport/TWR Spoiler on a 5.3 version of the XJ-S?

Latest issue of Jag World clearly explains that authentic TWR parts were sold separately for both pre and post facelift cars. The dealer or the buyer could install.

I will carry the magazine as part of my concours survival kit from now on.

It also seems legal to ut the TWR front facia on instead of rechroming. Food for thought.

I suppose someone (such as me) might ask if the brochures and parts listings were from Jaguar (that is, Jaguar literature listing TWR accesories for sale) or if such material was directly from TWR.

Since the rules allow genuine Jaguar accesories without penalty...but non-Jaguar accesories are disallowed....it makes a difference.

That's how I see it, at least.

A comparison might be made to, let's say, a Calloway Corvette. A Corvette in full Calloway trim might be acceptable but an owner buying one piece of Calloway trimwork and installing it might find himself afoul of the rules. (I don't know how a Corvette concours would actually view this....I was just drumming up an example)

That's what I thought.

No points off at JCNA shows so it is accepted as OEM.

I have seen a bochure for a 5.3 "TWR" car (which I suppose is a basic car with a cosmetic package). I have also seen a bochure with a shopping list of TWR parts and prices which are each sold seprately.

My best guess is the original buyer wanted a basic car with the spiffy spoiler tacked on the back boot.

In a wierd way might this extra makes for a car less common than the 6.0 version TWR car (pre-facelift).

I need to rechrome my front and back bumbers and I wonder if it would be authentic to use the painted TWR packages bumbers and air spoiler (pre-facelift) instead of rechroming.

Hi Dan,

I have never seen one on a one, Jag of Tacoma says this is not something they did.
