my scrip is a followup from the one submitted by Ginger Corda on 10/21/05.I too, am a victim of not having a front tag holder either on my car or on display during a recent concours. I have now competed for three years in eight (8) consecutive concours and judged by at least fifteen (15) different certified judges from at least four (4) different clubs. Never once was the missing front tag holder mentioned. I was gigged 1.5 points for the missing tag holder plus an addditional 2.1 exterior points for numerous other defects, actually something in every box on the exterior score sheet from soup to nuts.(the exterior judge was from a diffrent Region out of state and asked to help in the judging, my lucky day) total deducts exterior 3.6 points, total deducts interior/boot 0.2 points, total deducts mechanical 0.0 points. Final score 9.962. My first concours three years ago before investing more than 1000 hours of personal labor in restoration and much $$$ for parts and cosmetics I earned a third place score of 9.972.(Ginger was first) My scores since the first concours have ranged from 9.989 to 9.995 So what am I complaining about? Surely not the judging!

Front Tag Holder/Judging Inconsistency
Marvin, Unless I am reading things incorrectly, there is no provision for a missing/non-authentic deduction in the CURRENT Chapter 6. The new Chapter 6, which is not effective until the 2006 Concours season, adds a whole bunch of new items to the missing/non-authentic list. Among the additions are Hood/Envelope Covers, License Plate Holders and Side Curtain Storage Pouches. Next year should see a dramatic decrease in score totals. Not only is the Chapter 6 list about three times longer, many of the minimum deductions have greatly increased. The total maximum deductions for major components have also increased significantly (e.g. Interior increased from 26 to 200 points, exterior from 24 to 200 points). I see a shift from judging for cleanliness to judging for authenticity which is the right direction JCNA should be going.

Pat you are not missing anything in the judging rules except that there are approved guides for series 1 and 2 E types. The 1968 guide is on the web for comment as we speak. The rules state that approved judging guides be aval. at a show and used. George Camp
