I own a 1967 XKE Series I Roadster. I am in the process of obtaining an Archive certification and have recently been forwarded the preliminary information. Things seem to match my historical research on the car except for color. Presently the body is Opalescent Silver Blue with a black interior. The preliminary report states the original body color to be "Cinnamon" with Black interior. Not being familiar with "Cinnamon" as a '67 color I thought I'd do a little research. I tried the JCNA judging guide but could not find a color chart in the exterior section. I also checked the factory parts manual and no mention there. I went to "Original Jaguar E-Type" by Phillip Porter and although I found a chart for early and late 67's there was no "Cinnamom". Does anyone know if "Cinnamom" is a '67 color or what reference I might use to check color offerings for 1967.
Thanks for the help,
Ray g

Bob;
I just received a revised authentication sheet and wanted to pass the resolve along to you and the others that responded to my question. You were correct. After receiving the revised sheet which stipulated that the original color was Carmine Red and not Cinnamom I called the Archives. A nice lady explained that it is sometimes difficult to read the records hence the misquote of information. They are preparing the final certificate and will have it to me shortly.

I seem to remember an article in the JJ a number of years ago, when Charlie Morgan and Karen Miller were still there, about how difficult is was to read the old hand written factory records when filling out the JDHC paper. Don't be to hard on them if a mistake was made.

Thanks Dick I am questioning the color with the Historical Society. I'll post the results of my query when received. I did see in the references I have that, as you found, "Cinnamon" was also an interior color. Information I have seems to suggest that "Cinnamon" came into being with late '68 models and was somewhat prevelent with the '69 and on Series II and III XKE units as well as the XJ's.

Thanks Matt..... I have returned the preliminary document with the question of color to Michael. I will seee what he comes up with... just as your case it seems strange that no reference lists "Cinnamon" as a color choice in '67. Just make one wonder about the authenticity of the authentication ?????

This will do little to solve your problem but, for information, "Cinnamon" is used by Jaguar to describe the interior color of my 1979 XJ6L. It's not impossible that a transposition of terms took place somewhere along the line.

Ray,
I have run into a similar problem with my 1967 E-type. I bought it from the original owner with the color being Opalescent green( no repainting was admitted to). When I applied for the Heritage Certificate I was surprized to see the color listed as BRG. I looked in the Jaguar reference books and the books only list the Opalescent Green as being an available green color in 1967 and not BRG. I talked to Michael Cook and he had factory documentation that it was BRG. The original sales receipt was of no help as it just listed the color as "Green"
So what do you do?

Steve Kennedy's great book, "Jaguar, the Classic Marque" has a whole section on colors offered and the interiors that went with them for the entire Jag range. It shows a Carmen red for '67 with black, light beige or red interior. I don't see a "Cinnamon" as having ever been offered on a Jaguar. Carmen red is the only red shown to come on E-types from '61-'68
