I'm brand new to this forum. I've been wondering about something ever since I moved to France almost four years ago: Jaguar sedans are sold in Europe without the leaping jaguar mascot, while Jaguar sedans sold in the US have the mascot.
Can anyone tell me why the difference?

Re.: Leaping Jaguar Mascot
I am not sure about the MB emblem. It may be spring loaded or have some sort of safety exemption. I don't remember where I heard about the EU rules. But I do remember coming across that information. Maybe on a trip to the UK at the Earls Court auto show or in a publication. However, you may want to look into that a bit more, since I could have been mistaken.

Re.: Leaping Jaguar Mascot
Mercedes still has its Star sticking up from the hood. Is that not considered dangerous under the EU's rules?
Thanks for your response.

Re.: Leaping Jaguar Mascot
The European Union has passed laws on auto safety a few years ago that bans hood ornaments and any protrusions that may cause injury in an accident. If you look at all late model cars you will not find any with hood ornaments or other protrusions. Mirrors etc are included with safety provisions.
