The cinch bolts that tighten the linkage arms on the carburetor butterfly shafts on my car have no markings on the head and are of some weird size...I assume Whitworth. Has anyone seen any original bolts with head markings on these pieces? Just curious.

Bob:
I have spoken to several folks with original cars and none of them have black oxide cinch bolts on the butterfly shaft linkage parts. The only black oxide parts on the linkage that I'm aware of are the keeper clips that hold the V-shaped links that go from the carb to the main actuating shaft.

Re.: Carb Linkage Cinch Bolts
Hi Patrick, I've got several sets of nuts and bolts from the tri carb setup that I've replaced on others cars for various reasons. None have any head marking, the diameter is around .183 and a 5/16 wrench fits both the nut and bolt. The finish is black oxide.

Re.: Carb Linkage Cinch Bolts
Patrick,
They are 7/32nds. Four of them for a two carb set up. Never seen any with markings - same on MGB and Austin Healey Sprite - 1275cc.

Hi Patrick, You are 100% correct on the finish, sorry for any confusion. Actually the color on the ones that I first looked at was a light gray color and as this linkage set was the best spares I have they have been stored in a can of oil for a number of years. I found one other set, that I didn't know that I had, these are also kind of light gray but I'm sure started life as a plain old cad finish. Again, sorry for any confusion that I caused! The heads on were unmarked.
