Steve... this one's got to be for you....

Did you see the article in yesterday's Times about deer overpopulation? We're having a record year for deer up here on Mt. Frank. There's a herd of at least half a dozen that tramp through the yard every morning, and it's one of about four or five herds that live along the road. The forest has been cleared from ground level to about five feet, and they give me funny looks every time I come out of the house. They aren't afraid in the least, in fact, the males will stamp and snort in challenge if you try to chase them. I'm thinking about passing out bows and arrows the next time we have a party, and offer a prize for the biggest deer.

Ooooo.... I'm putting it on my holiday wish list!!! But who needs the game. I've almost bagged a couple of more with the XJS the past couple of weeks. I'm driving it every day now until I get a new daily driver. Carol asked me what we should eat for Thanksgiving this year. I told her I was venison steak. Preferably from a deer we shoot in our own back yard!

p.s. For those of you who don't know what we are talking about, I hit a deer with the E-type in September, demolishing the bonnet. The insurance company has paid up and the car is now in the shop getting spiffed up so it will be ready to roll at Lime Rock and as many other events as we can get her to next year.
