I purchased a brand new 4.2 E-Type in late summer 1970. An interesting feature is it came with a pint can of the factory paint stored in the boot. Do judges look for that paint in concours judging?

Wow - that's a great problem to have!  I'd think it'd be a good thing to have with the car but how does one prove it came with it?  Any judges out there?

I can find no supporting evidence that

touch-up paint was a factory supplied item delivered with your E-type or any other Jaguar.

It was, however, not uncommon for Jaguars to receive body damage on their trip across the pond or when being unloaded at their port of entry or even while being transported to the many dealerships. That damage would be properly repaired with factory supplied

matching paint before being sold by the receiving ldealership. You were just lucky to have your paint left in the car as a 'dealer' gift.

Thus, such paint it is not a required or a judged item. It is, of course, historically interesting and thank you

for your inquiry.
