This bracket seems to have only 3 bolts securing it to parts of the engine, but after removing them, the bracket won't budge. Are there other bolts retaining this piece of metal?

Tony, you shouldnt have to remove the P/S hoses to get this bracket off. but you will need to loosen the P/S pump pulley. and its a good time to replace the belt if its old. ( I used a gates 9300)

I will caution you tho that you may want to invest in a new high pressure hose for the P/S pump.since you have it apart. as once you start wiggling it around the brittle rubber is going to crack. and if you do like I did and ignore it, it wont leak until you put everything back on...

the hose on the back is the low pressure return from the reservoir tank.

The high Press hose isnt cheap, its 130 bucks or so, but now is the time to replace it, while you can get at all the fittings. its also a good time to flush all the old fluid out, replace the filter in the tank, cross ref to a napa 1653, or WIX 51653 or fram c-4614..

refill with regular ATF type A fluid.

my car is a mid 69 production with P/S and A/C just like yours

Tony-right but your first pics were so that I could not tell if you had the first or second type of bracket. You have the second type which has fittings for the PS which is why you can not remove it.

Bob,

Great pics... a real help.

The way it looks, I need to
unhook the two hoses from the compressor,
remove the bolt running through the "bushing" shape,
remove the bolt that adjusts the tension on the belt (on the water pump side of the compressor), and remove the compressor (back toward the firewall).
If the bracket still doesn't budge, I look for one more bolt (somewhere?).

And George,

My bracket is the same as Bob's and my car came unaltered (with A/C as standard) from the UK in 1971. I guess any alterations (to accommodate A/C), would have been made at the factory.

here is another angle. the bushing looking part at the bottom is a standoff behind the P/S pump. There is a long bolt that goes here, its been a year or so since I did mine.
but once you remove the front bolts it comes right off. ( assuming the ALT has been removed )
