Hello everyone. I recently had my starter die and finally got it removed. It was a job getting that inner bolt removed from inside the car & I'm not looking forward to trying to put it back. Should I rebuild the original or buy one of the newer kinds? I think that my solenoid is bad as I had to persuade it at times to work. Thanks for your advice.

Hi Ted,

Last year when my original starter motor was giving me trouble, I decided to replace it with a gear reduction starter. Best move I ever did - easier to fit, no modifications and turns the engine over much quicker. I bought mine from Welch and I think it was $195.

Regards,

Stuart

I had my original rebuilt . Cost $210.00 which is about the same as a new one. I have found that old parts even rebuilt are better then a lot of new parts on the market. Find a starter/ generator/alternator shop and give them a call or better yet go by and talk to them. And yes mine had a new solenoid etc installed. It looked brand new when I picked it up.
