I'm going to pull the engine on my 73 Series III convertible to install a new clutch and will do the obvious seal/gasket replacements while its out. Rather than replace the water pump at the same time I'm thinking of installing an electric version from http://www.daviescraig.com (EWP150 and EWP/Digital Controller) I would pull the pulley and just leave the old pump in place to allow the same belt to be used. Their stated advantage is more coolant thru-put and no power drag from the pulley.....Thoughts, recommendations or experiences anyone?

If you upgrade the alternator, don't forget to upgrade the wiring harness too, or you will have a meltdown or fire the first time the alternator is asked to deliver to it's capacity...

Try it, sounds like over kill, but hey maybe there is something to it. No way can you run the original alt. Get the one wire gm at any store, bolts right in, they have a cheapy 75 amp rebuilt core or go the whole way with a new 1 wire mini alt, close to 200 bucks but an internal regulator and 115 amps, on hand....
I love etype owners, alwys opening up a big can of worms.
Good luck.

Hi J.Patrick,

I do not have any experience w/ the electronic water pump, however, the Jag water pumps on the series III's are very reliable. I believe they can be replaced if needed while the engine is in place, therefore If it was me I would not put the electronic water pump on my V-12.
