Have you by chance seen the Velocity channel Classic Car Rescue program covering an S2 E "renovation", with a green Herald Conv prominently displayed on a lift in the shop?
PS There's a Herald on E-Bay and a green Vitesse (last week) in New England

Oh too bad, I had both also, my Vitesse treated me well for the two years I had it, unfortunetly it was almost eaten by a Colchester City bus, The Daimler V8 was mine for about a year and it was a manuel.The Herald I have here was purchased in Los Angeles and had only one owner before I got it. Unfortunately for comfort sake it was fitted with mustang seats long ago and I can't find any originals. Regards Bill

William - My Triumph was actually the sexy Vitesse Conv version (black on white) which was exported to the States in very limited numbers. It had four headlights and the TR 6 cylinder engine. Too much power for the transmission which failed twice in 5 years (see Wikipedia). The paint pealed and rusted off ( Triumph had too many bodies at one point and stored them on the grass in a wet field in the rain for months) and numerous other problems were pervasive. I sold it in 1968 and bought my first Jag - the Daimler/Jag version of the MK2, with the small V8, just a wonderful car except for the auto transmission. After that I swore off all cars British except for Jags.

FYI, I had the national champion 1954 XK120SE OTS, #674495 for 2000 and 2001, a 100 point car. Not once did any judge, anywhere, ask me if it was the same color paint or interior as it came from the factory. I did however, research diligently, the Olde English White paint and biscuit interior that I chose.

Karen Miller, at JCNA at that time, advised me that this combination was not valid. Then in my research I found that Dennis Eynon still had his fathers totally original 120, that came that way from the factory. So that's how I finished the car after Dennis so graciously allowed me to take pictures of his car out in Scottsdale.

BTW, my car originally came from the factory painted red with biscuit with red piping Duotone interior. My choice proved to be a "smashing" and quite elegant combination with chrome wires and whitewalls! See attached.

See the car below. It has had two owners from new. The auction sale price included the buyer's premium. When the second owner sent the car went to Classic Showcase for restoration it had 71,000 miles on the odo. The previous record for a Jaguar E-type to sell at public auction was ?ú225,500 ($364,000). Get 'em while their hot!

Last time I checked, you could change the color and still have a 100-point car provided that color was available that year. (That makes more sense if the frame rails, wheel well, etc. are also changed to the new color.)

I have no problem with colour changes if done completely, BUT, it is NOT original as we are all fully aware. Interestingly it sold in New York but apparently is being shipped to California- OR, had previously been shipped and refurbished, It is a unclear.

Which makes me ask........'When a car colour is changed (in this case from Primrose Yellow) to Black....can it still qualify for being a 100 point car? I don't blame him for the colour change, however, that was not the way it left the factory.

That bolsters my position, I may end up having the only one, roll over FERRARI. ps, do you still have it Alan?

I thought the Herald was designed to self destruct within 10 years. Mine did
