I bought a Jaguar Heritage XJ-6 series 1 and 2 shop manual on CD. It is very convenient and was only $10 on ebay.
It states oil pressure should be 40lbs. @ 3000rpm hot, which i have always heard but thought it sounded too low. I am making twice that. I ordered a new sending unit from Terry's today to enjoy the oil pressure reading from inside the car.
I just checked the cyl compression warm and it was better(even) than any older European car i have owned. 1-6 was as follows:
149, 151, 150, 149, 150, 150
Very pleased with this motor and real motivation to restore it.

Use racing oil 20-50. It works real well. though it depends on the mileage. I have the same engine in a 72 XJ-6.
