Hell all, I recently purchased a 1969 XKE 2+2 with a Borg Warner automatic transmission. The car is in pristine shape with the exception of the transmission which is going to need a rebuild as the collar around the input shaft snapped in two. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Norcal Bay Area that works on these older Borg Warners?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks Don, Ron,
I talked to Steve at Vintage Auto Service and he doesn't touch automatics. I would love to do a 5 speed swap but it would cost between 8-11K which is double the cost of an already expensive rebuild.

He has worked on my jags for over 20 years.
BTW, He could also change that B/W to a 5 speed.

Mike, While I don't know of a shop in your area, there is a great one in San Louis Obispo. They are XK's Unlimited and one of our club sponsors, I think they might do a pickup at your house to do the work on your B/W trans. You might want to think of converting to a 5 speed at that time as you are going to have the engine and trans pulled anyway to do a rebuild on the B/W I think, so you might want to go the whole hog. I've been doing a rolling restoration on my 66' 2+2 for the last 3 years and have had a very good time doing most of my own work. As my E-type only had 23000 miles when I got it and I've never had to pull the engine she still has a 4 speed stick, but if I blew the trans I think I would go for the 5 speed converson as the labor would'nt be much more. There was no rust in my E and only shabby paint which has been repainted in the original Opalessnt Maroon so we have much in common. cheers Don
Hell, Mike ; -)
There is a lot of E-Type activity in the Bay Area. I take it you have joined the JAG, but I recommend you also watch the Jag-Lovers forums. We occasionally get together at Alice's Restaurant and drive the hills, notice is on the E-Type forum. Hope to see you soon.
No idea about automatics, other than I think it's an American transmission so you might find a GM mechanic who can do the job cheaply.
