Hi everyone. I have a 1999 vdp. I have had good sucess with it. Some issues that I have shared with you. Lately, it has been stalling or just wont start. I was in a parking lot inside home depo. I got back in the car and it did'nt want to start. 1 hr later it fired up just like nothing was wrong. On another occasion I was driving stopped for a sign. and it died. again it fired up again like nothing eas wrong w/in an hour. Today she fired up. I ran it hard for a half hour while parked. rpm's up to 4ooo and no problems.
So If anyone has some advice.. Oh my check eng light is on but it goes out all the time along with the stability/traction control.
thanks

1999 vdp stalling out
Also, I have been probing around the fuses and pump with test light . I have found that I am getting power to most fuses not all ( very strange ) . I am getting power to my fuel pump relay ( the relay is fine ) in the trunk but , not to the wires going to the fuel tank ( on the back of the tank). I'm not suspecting the pump. I have checked the inertia switch located behind the passanger kick plate. That was fine. I have herd a humming that seems to be comming from the throttle body. Thanks.

1999 vdp stalling out
Thanks Brian , I put a scanner on it and I got the classic " man. spicific. code". However I found two emmissions leak codes. 1- low and the other large. I cleared them but for a few days now Im unable to start it at all.. My intention is to disconnect the batt. charge it than seee were I am. Hate to bring it to Ray Catina if I dont have to. Sorry I'm in N.J..

1999 vdp stalling out
John,
You need to take an OBD reading to see what the stored code from the check engine light is. Better yet, take it when the check engine light is on. There are many transient problems that will cause the check engine light to be illuminated but if they are not consistent, and there are either the necessary number of start/turn-off cycles without recurrence or the problem "fixes itself" after enough successive checks by the computer the light will go out. These are some of the most difficult things to trace down because of their (no pun intended) on-again-off-again nature.
The check engine light is not illuminated due to stability control failure. I get the occasional stability control failure (which, by the way, can become very common if you have a really weak battery - it has something to do with all the stuff that has to occur very quickly when the car is started) and that never causes the check engine light to illuminate, only the little amber alert oval above the message center.
By the way....to all of us with the zed f trans. I had mine rebuilt by a place here in n.j. for only 1,600.00. my "d" drive wore out. and a 12 month warr. ... please pass this on to everyone.........
