Rick your 61 car uses the early disc wire separators. Those are a bit different in length from the later PVC protected leads. The parts manual says 21 feet does the job and all you need to do is run them one at a time (starting with #1 of course). That will allow for a very clean and tight job.

Mk II 3.4 Ignition Wire Lengths
I'm replacing the car's current wiring set with new wires that I'm measuring and cutting to length myself. Obviously I can use the existing set as a template, but I'm not sure they are the originals, as a few of the 6 seem to be too long (they are bent at the ends at a fairly extreme angle). I can estimate a better length, but I was just wondering if someone has the proper lengths listed somewhere. Even a good close-up photo of the wires where they are attached to the spark plugs would help, but I'm not suggesting anyone go out to take photos.
