I have what I beleive is a very early MK7.I aquired the car on a trade without a title.I think it may be a 1951. I found a title and number plate from a 1953.My question is,how do you tell the year it was made by the numbers on the I.D. plate? Also what are any difference between 51 &53 cars. They appear to be the same.I did'nt get the running gear with the car.It was a manual trans and I thought a 1953 had the automatic? Also the car has the slots for trafficators, bucket seats without the rear tables.
Thanks for any input.
Best regards,Grandpa Marc

Re.: MK7 number plate question
You also need to prove you own the vehicle, I have had an E stored for a number of years that is to undergo a full restoration, we have not registered it and have mislaid the documents. So they would not send me a heritage certificate. I'm not sure why. Who else would want one and why would it matter?

Re.: MK7 number plate question
Hi. If you've got the ID plate you can get a Heritage Certificate from Jaguar Heritage which gives you all the information you need. You can get the form on line. Alan
Not having any of the info your looking for, but I did own one and restored it back in the 60's. Mine was a 53.
If there are trafic indicator slots and bucket seats without the rear tables, I would go with the 51 year.
It is possible I would guess, that someone in the past removed the front bench seat and replaced it with buckets, but how I don't have a clue.
Ours had a full front bench seat and the rear tables. It also was an automatic.
