I was wondering if I could get some background history on this car as far as how reliable their engines were and such. Planning to restore my S-Type and sell it.

Since you own one , *you* are in the best position to comment on how reliable they are! Personally I'd expect any 40-50 year old car to be unreliable and be grateful for any pleasant surprises to the contrary :-)

To be honest your question is so vague I'm not sure how to answer. Others will chime in, I reckon.
