I purchased the car 3/2012,W/ 60,000mi. Had full tune-up,(ie. valve clearances,timing,and carbs rebuilt and airflowed). The car runs and sounds great. Oil is Castrol 10w-40 and fresh changed w/filter. Oil pressure when picked-up and for about 600mi. driving holds at close to 60psi. Recently I noticed starting oil press. rises to 60+/- and quickly starts to drop to 20-30psi(no low oil press light). I immediately pulled back into the garage and shut it down. Both the Oil press. Sender and Press. Switch on the engine rear left side look to be origional. I replaced both as I was in there anyway doing the Sender. I started her up and the L/P light went out immediately and the pressure rose to 75-80psi. I have been unable to find factory specs. on a new or freshly overhauled V-12 and a Normal Oil Press Range. I'm not complaining as I don't think it is Oil Starved buy any means and I realize that sending unit calib. can vary a little from one to the next. I don't really want to pull them back out and bench check them. If any of you more experienced E-Type/V-12 owners can share with me any experiences and/or technical data as to my own observations I would really be grateful.
