Guys, I need your help!
I am in process of rewiring my series 2 OTS (69). I installed all the harnesses. Everything went well until today. I am left with several wires, which I have had a real problem figuring out. I have added a couple of pics. (Bought the complete harness kit from Autosparks).
The first issue is a black and purple set of wires covers in cloth. the other end goes to fuse 6#, while the black wire's other end ends up in the front drives dash area behind the tach.
The length of wire is about 3 ft or so which assumes that it is going somewhere outside the centre dash area. The drawing seems to show that it goes to the flasher unit but by looking at the car cant seem to tell. Any suggestions, pics?
The other issues is at the centre dash there are two wires both green blue. Where do they go?
The third and final issue, missing black/green wire for fuel guage. I traced it from the boot area to the drivers side but cant seem to find the wire in the main wiring loom in the dash. Any suggestions here, could auto sparks have missed this wire in the loom?
thanks you for any response especially pics from your cars to show locations.
Marco

wiring question on my 69 series 2 OTS
Thanks guys, based on your comments, I would agree that it is the cigar lighter for the cotten wires. Didnt think of cigar lighter, dont smoke....
David, want colours are connected to your fuel guage?
George, it runs up the drivers side from the top of fuel tank.
Any further thoughts on the blue green wires that dont seem to have homes?
I guess I may have to rig up a green black wire from the existing green black wire coming from the connection on the left side of the car to the fuel guage If I cant find it..
Thanks for your comments, one down, two wires to go!

The wires to the dash light are plastic, the ones to the lighter are cotton.

David now that you said that the long leads may be the cigar lighter!
Marco do you have a factory wire chart?

wiring question on my 69 series 2 OTS
The Series II diagram I have has all the violet wires going out of fuse 8. One goes to INT LIGHT SW, another to CIGAR LIGHTER, another to MAP LIGHT, another to DIRECT SIG SWITCH. The black color all show to be ground wires so maybe it is the ground counterpart to the violet wire. If I had to guess by comparing to my car it might be wires going to cigar lighter.
My car has a blue / green wire going to the water temp gage RH terminal. My car is a '68 FHC and has the rocker swtich type dash

Marco as to the purple and black wires--are you aware there is a map lamp in the center underside of the facia (dash) top? I think you will find that is what they are for. As to the green wires. As far as the green wires you need to look at each fuse block and count--green is power so they either go to the fuse blocks or to a switch/ instrument. Have you checked both sides for the black/green wire? I can not remember which side it runs up.

wiring question on my 69 series 2 OTS
sorry had to try again to upload first pic.
My car has green with dark color stripe (I think black) going to the fuel gauge. The wire from the LH terminal of the fuel gauge looks to run directly over and joins into the LH terminal on the water temp gauge. The wires and diagram for the green and blue with dark color stripes are giving my bad eyes a hard time. Plus some of the colors on the wires may have lightened or darkenend over 40+ years.
Your picture is grainy when I view it but looks like the green/blue colors going to my water temp gauge
When I flip down the center panel and scan the wire colors I see a blue wire with green stripe but it is not connected and terminated. My car has a switch for rear window heat but no rear window heater so maybe for an option my car does not have. Today everything works on my car so I think it is wired properly.
Hope this helps and does not confuse things more.
