Could someone tell me was there anything originally applied to the floor between the stiffeners in the spare wheel well of a 66 fhc? If so, what, and should I install it before or after painting?

Joseph Jaguar applied strips of Bostik (SP) or a similiar strip product for sound insulation. Those products are still available and should be applied prior to painting.
