Had the original M/C rebuilt by white post. 80 miles later it leaks from rear seal. don't know that I want them to "fix" it as don't really want to trust that it won't leak again. What I would like to know is if the new cylinders offered by the main suppliers have the same size outlets or different size. . My 65 has 5/8" and 3/4" with fittings for metal reformed lines (original). Anyone know if the new repro cylinder will work as I have described?

William that was a touching story. Hermann Alber's name got my attention as I have dealt with him in the past and miss his wise guidance. As far as the above post the policy of WP is and has been for a while that they ONLY do a complete rebuild--no simple services like sleeving. William things change and I will tell you I wish that I could say NEVER to an issue but I can not---and not just over one issue. I would normally agree with sending the part back but with NEW MCs out there and less costly than a rebuild why bother?

Blake, I have dealt with White Post for 30 years and NEVER had a cylinder leak, send it back to them. did they reassemble it or you? Billy Thompson who founded White Post died just a few weeks ago Here is a letter I wrote about him!
I was saddened to read of the passing of Billy Thomson particularly after the recent death of Tommy Sparks (the memorial service for Tommy is 3.pm this Sunday at the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles). I have known Billy for almost 30 years dealing with him frequently from my shop in Los Angeles. It had always been my intention to accept his many offers to visit White Post. This story was typical of Billy; In the early 80's, at about midday on a Wednesday I took an urgent call from the owner of a Rolls Royce. The National meet began on Friday in San Diego and he had driven over from Arizona when his brakes went out, He asked if we had could to fix it, and had the car brought in, We quickly found that he needed master cylinders (2), that were very hard to find. He asked what could be done. I called Billy at home and explained the situation, he said send them to me NOW, I did, overnight. At the same time I called Hermann Albers at his Rolls Royce Store in Zionsville Indiana and asked if he could send me the rebuild kits for the Cyls overnight, he did. Billy received the cylinders early Thursday, he gave the driver Coffee and cookies while they were re-sleeved, the driver left with them within 30 minutes! Both packages were in my shop by 0930 on Friday. We had the car running by about 11.30am. He left and was in San Diego by 6pm. in time to participate in the opening festivities. Could this still happen today? Perhaps, but I doubt it, there aren't many people around like Billy, Hermann & Tommy. Bill Brady.
Blake, I have been plaqued by leaking rear seal master cylinders for years. I have had companies rebuild them, I have rebuilt them, bought new ones, and NOS. They all leaked, I give up, as I don`t really know why they leak and make the mess they do. Also tried different brake fluids including girling and castrol. When I did rebuild them I really loaded up the rear seal area with plenty of brake grease to try and help seal them. Been there and still there.
